I had a birthday

This was the first year I had a surprise birthday event….and boy was it ever a surprise…after surprise…after surprise.

My lady set it all up and had some help from a few other nice ladies and gents to make things flow smoothly, and I had to do nothing :D

It started off by meeting up with her, she told me to get the dogs and get in the car, so I did. We dropped off one of her pups way out in the country at her brothers current residence, and then we started driving deeper and deeper into the country. I started to get scared. I asked if we were going to the beach! I didn’t bring any of my clothing or bathing suit or anything, but was willing to work it out.

We eventually ended up at a lake house on lake Sinclair where we would spend the next 2 days. Turns out that she had packed my clothes while I was in the car with the dogs…. …. At this point we were both starving as it was about 1pm and neither of us had eaten anything. We stopped at a gas station on the lake and asked if there were any restaurants close by. They told us that there was nothing anywhere close, and our best bet was the BP up the street because they had hot dogs. Grossed out I used my blackberry and googlemaps to find ‘food’ close to the address of the lake house. Within about a five mile radius it found over 10 BBQ places and a few other restaurants.

I picked one at random and we started trekking towards it. 5 minutes later we pulled up to the place. There was 1 truck in the gravel parking lot, and when we got out of the car, the smell was overwhelmingly delicious. Turns out that it really was delicious and fortunately we ordered extra to take with us to eat later…which we ate on all weekend.

We made it back to the lake house, and I managed to talk her into telling me who was coming down and slowly but surely they started arriving. We had copious amounts of many types of beer and lots of food so we started consuming.

Things then got a little crazy with more surprises. We tried to play some nerts which was WAY too fast, we went to the dock, we escaped the sleeping dragon, and we went all the way to the end of the universe.

The following day, my actual birthday, included more of the same. Kayaking, swimming, drinking, eating, and getting tons of sun. It seemed every time we came back from kayaking more and more people had showed up. Eventually even my family showed up and we all grilled out and had cake to seal the deal. Everyone was exhausted, even those who had not spent the night there. So slowly people started to leave and or pass out to sleep until there were just two of us up watching UFC. I think everyone was asleep by 10:30 but it was well deserved.

Definitely the best birthday weekend/celebration I have had in my now 26 years of life and I am very happy everyone that did come out did come out :)
