Everything

Hey everyone, sorry to call you out like this but I feel like it is pretty important that you know what kind of gift I want from you for the holidays.

In the event that you get some crap toy, a really terrible sweater, or a fruit cake, people will tell you that you should have spoken up earlier. I certainly do not want any of those things and neither should you.

Happy Thanksgiving 2010

November 25, 2010

Many people are doing this on their “social media” accounts this year…well I have a website so I am doing it here :)

The things I am thankful for do not really change year to year. I am always thankful for my family, my friends, and generally being alive and for the most part, healthy.

This year however was probably the biggest year of my life to date, so here is a short list of the things that I am thankful for in 2010.

I am thankful for:

Let’s Recap Weekend Fun

November 15, 2010

I had a blast this weekend, here are the pictures

Getting ready to jam right in front of the Capitol building in Atlanta…how awesome is THIS?

Later that night, people put things on a cat

Impromptu photo shoot with some of my hijacking music friends…Say no to social media :)

This is the ‘hardest’ I’ve ever looked

Afterward we hit up So Ba and had some drinks and food

Book signing turned party at Urban Oasis. Live band, sushi made by the hosts, lots of other food and drinks, tons of people, all there after the same purpose.

Chris Guillebeau spent a few minutes talking about why he wrote the book as well as answered some group question.

I think more than meeting Chris, who I have been following online and reading his blog most of this year, was hearing from others about how they’ve been going against the status quo and making a difference in their own lives.

Thanks for bringing together such a great community of people!

manworkingBefore you perfectionists get all riled up, just know that we are all perfectionists, especially with the things that we are passionate about.

Or at least we want to be.

The title of this article comes from a twitter post made by Peter Shallard that I found retweeted by another Atlanta local Andy Fogarty. Andy’s website Entrepreneurial Daddy is full of useful and inspirational posts, you should check it out.

I am not exactly sure the reason behind Peter posting that, but can definitely relate to it from a couple of different angles which has inspired this post.

First Angle

As a entrepreneur myself, I have been doing just about everything required to run a business, which takes time…lots and lots of time. With minimal time on my hands, I have to use it wisely. - Read more

What’s Coming Up?

September 21, 2010

As this is my personal blog, I wanted to write a little bit about what is coming up in Bret’s World Wide Web.

If you know me, you know I dabble in various different projects, and currently am working with 3 websites of my own, Web Devils, Hijacking Music, and this website.

My goal over the next six months is pretty much the same for each of them, but the content will differ.  Let’s go over the three different entities. - Read more

Wordcamp Savannah 2010

Wordcamp Savannah 2010

This past weekend I had the pleasure of attending WordCamp Savannah.

“WordCamps are low-key community conferences that celebrate all things WordPress and bring together local WordPress users, developers and fans.”

To read more about this particular WordCamp, visit WordCamp in Savannah GA.

Before I talk about the actual event itself, let me drop a little bit of background on my history with WordPress.

How Did I Find WordPress?

I’ve been working with web development as well as programming in different languages since I was a teen. There is just something about submitting and retrieving data using code and a database tickles my fancy.

For extra cash, as well as the stimulation of programming itself, I was developing websites for friends of mine.  While doing this I was also creating my own Content Management System to enable my clients to log into their websites and make changes on their own.

Little did I know how important this kind of action would become in the next couple of years.
